although I have little else to compare it with the quality of everything from mile high seems to be very high quality

What I received was well made and fit together once the proper seals were purchased and installed. A “kit” is needed with everything you need, because if you don’t know what that it, you get a package that is not useable until you buy what you do need. As example, you need the gasket between the funnel and pipe; You need screen material on both ends of the pipe to keep the carbon from spilling out fro either end when stored, and etc.. Once you have these items in place, it’s the best. The only improvement would be a kit form with some helpful guidance.

This filter works great, just watch the video online which shows how to use the filter and how to wash the charcoal. I added a pipe adapter (purchased separately). A screen in the end to retain charcoal will work, but I ran into a funnel with a coffee filter, too. Same great quality as the rest of the products.

Hey, look up the hot water heater adapter. It is 2-inch flange to 3/4 pipe. I have some stainless steel screen that I cut round to fit kind of snug, and it just sits in the bottom of the adapter. I put a funnel in a jug with a coffee filter in it and the pipe adapter drips right in. The screen will allow some of the finer charcoal particles to pass, that’s why the coffee filter is there. I also used some 2-inch pipe clamps for stage lighting to support the filter. Made some standoffs out of aluminum stock and mounted to a storage rack. Works great.

what kind of pipe adapter did you use with this??? and how did you retain the screen to the unit??? Lemmie know!!!

Awesome.. thanks.. I have all of the other parts, but am having a hard time finding the Hot Water Heather Adapter, went to lowes and they are just showing me like a flex line.. Do you happen to have a manufacturer name and part number.. It would help me out alot!!!! Thanks

I didn’t expect it to be of this high quality for the price.
Very satisfied with the workmanship.

I used the water heater adapter with the stainless screen/gasket and put a coffee filter cut out under it to catch the carbon powder, then reduced it down to a 3/8″ ball valve for control. Works great. I also built a stand using 1/2″ scd 80 PVC, I cut the top side pieces at 5″ then glued them together with 90’s, then measured and cut in the middle of each side and put in a T, all pointing down. Did the same for the bottom but made the side pieces 10″ long again glued it together with the 90’s then measured and cut in the middle and put in T’s pointing up. I used 48″ upright’s to connect the top and bottom, I did not glue the uprights to the top or bottom so that I could take it apart for storage. I hope I made this clear enough for each of you to follow. The stand works great.

What a difference this carbon filter made on my shine. It removed the strong yeasty smell and made the shine much smoother to drink. Well worth the money invested.

As always the quality and design are first class. Works great attached to a 3 gallon milk can. If the 3 gallon milk can had a valve at the bottom for filling bottles life would truly be perfect.

High quality throughout, the welds are as good as advertised. The funnel/reservoir/column/clamp are excellent in design and feel. It is a high caliber, solid, clean looking assembly that provides confidence in my anticipation of a long service life. I’ve looked at individual similar components and packages from other suppliers and tried to improve on cost, but this Mile Hi package beats ’em all. If the other guys don’t gouge you on parts they get it in shipping & “handling” (whatever that is). I’ve fabricated my own clamps that won’t mar or crush the tubing and allow hands-free mounting for ease of use. You folks might consider something to incorporate with this design. Also, consider some sort of integral SS mesh filter for clamping to the end to capture the carbon and to incorporate the “coffee filters” for residual fines. Maybe a small clamped spool of some sort. The clamping of coffee filters is working for me though. Again, Good Job. America needs to build again.

Outstanding quality. Way better than a plastic carbon snake or smaller filter system. Watch Mike’s Mile Hi and George from Barley and Hopps brewing video on carbon filtering, he has some great tips on preparing the carbon for best results. I now have another Mile Hi heirloom.
