3 Day hands-on workshop to learn how to make Whiskeys (scotch style single malt and bourbon style whiskey), Rum, Vodka, Gin, and Agave Spirits.  Learn to make all of these spirits in a small group 3-day class.

Workshops are held at a licensed working distillery in Centennial Colorado which is a suburb of Denver. These classes are designed for the beginner hobbyist distiller through experienced distiller and brewer. A fun, hands-on way of learning how to make quality spirits.

2-Day Hands-On Workshop – April 11th-12th, 2025

Hands on distilling workshop offered exclusively at Mile Hi Distilling will allow you to work on your own, personal 3 gallon distilling machine and distill four different spirits throughout the 2-day course. Spirits include whiskey, rum, gin, and agave spirit (tequila). You will also get to keep a bottle of each spirit you made to take home and enjoy your hard work later that night!

A. Creating A Wash
Step-By-Step Fermentation Process:
1st Day -Rum Wash, Gin Wash
2nd Day – Whiskey Mash, Agave Wash

Fermentation Notes:
Understanding water quality and pH
Enzymes and yeast
Understanding starch conversion and fermentable sugars

B. Setting up a Still
Importance of a vinegar run
Difference between different configurations (Reflux, Pot)
Hose Set Up (Recirculating system or Direct Line and Drain)
Importance of keeping element submerged
How much to fill to avoid burping
Footnote on why you would do a stripping run

C. Distilling Process
1st Day – Rum and Gin Spirits:

Custom 3 Gallon 3” Torpedo Pro with Live Proofing Parrot
110V Heating Controller
4G fermentation bucket for each wash
Filtering Unit for 30 Gallons
Mash Tun
Alcohol meters and hydrometers

Class times are 8am-4pm at Conflagration Distillery, located down the street from Mile Hi Distilling’s warehouse. Class times may go longer depending on additional assistance needed in class and Q&A time.
