Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe
For the Apple Pie Moonshine recipe, combine 8 cups of moonshine (120 proof) or vodka (80 proof), 3-4 cups of brown sugar, 10 cinnamon sticks, Apple pie spice, Dried ginger, Vanilla bean, and 1 apple.
While apple pie is a symbol of American national pride and prosperity, it’s also one of the most celebrated flavors of moonshine out there. And for good reason. One of the best things about apple-flavored moonshine, is that you can enjoy it during the winter months as a hot beverage or as a refreshing summer drink over ice. For this recipe, we’ll be explaining step-by-step how to make a delicious batch of apple pie moonshine.
Two Types of Recipes
There are a variety of different recipes that you can use to make an apple pie flavored moonshine. For this reason, in this guide, we’ll cover two different ways that you can go about creating a great-tasting moonshine.
The first recipe that we’ll go over, will take you less time to complete, but has a bit more preparation and steps to it. The second recipe is very simple but will take you a bit more time to complete. Both recipes can utilize the moonshine that you created by following our How To Make Moonshine walkthrough guide.
No matter what apple moonshine recipe you follow here, you will end up creating a mouthwatering batch of flavored firewater. So without further introduction, let’s get into this recipe!

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe
(Quick Version)
This version of this apple pie moonshine recipe is quicker because you utilize a heating element to speed up the process of bringing out the flavors of the spices into the apple concentrate mixture. Although this is a quicker way you can use to create a batch of apple pie moonshine, this technique also has a higher likelihood of producing more bitter-tasting flavors. You can still get a great tasting batch of moonshine using this quick technique but, patience is a virtue for a reason.
The one strict rule here is don’t add moonshine to your simmering batch while you still have it on a heating element.  There are two reasons for this. One is a safety issue. Moonshine is flammable and should NEVER be placed next to a heating element. Reason two is more about the flavor of your end product. Alcohol begins to evaporate at 174 degrees. If you add the moonshine into the simmering/boiling apple concentrate mixture, you’ll only create a lower-proof and more bitter-tasting apple pie moonshine.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Ingredients (Quick Version)
- 8 cups of moonshine (120 proof) or vodka (80 proof) if you want a less potent final product
- 5 cans of apple juice concentrate
- 3-4 cups of brown sugar
- 10 cinnamon sticks
- Apple pie spice
- Dried ginger
- Vanilla bean
- 1 apple
Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions
(Quick Version)
-
For the first step, you pour all 5 cans of apple juice concentrate into a large pot.
-
Add 3-4 cups of brown sugar (depending on how sweet you want your batch to turn out).
-
Next, add in your 10 cinnamon sticks, cut your apple into 4 pieces and add them into the mix as well. If you’d like to create a more complex flavor profile for your apple pie flavored moonshine you can also add 1 pinch of apple pie spice, 1/4 cup of dried ginger, and 1-2 sticks of vanilla bean into the batch. Be aware that a small amount of each of these goes a long way!
-
Bring your mixture to a low simmer. Cover your pot with a lid and reduce heat. Let your mixture simmer for one-hour. After that, remove your pot from the burner and allow the mixture to cool down.
-
Once the mixture cools down, you can pour in your 8 cups of moonshine. *Be sure to wait until the mixture cools down before pouring in your moonshine. Stir to completely mix the moonshine in with your apple concentrate batch.
-
Next slowly pour your moonshine mixture into your 4 quart jars. Be sure to use a cheesecloth to filter the moonshine/apple concentrate mixture as you pour it. Add 1 cinnamon stick and 1/4th of an apple that was previously in your mixture to each jar.
-
Congrats! You can enjoy your apple pie flavored moonshine immediately. For a more complex and aged flavor, seal and store the jars in your refrigerator for 2-3 weeks before you enjoy your batch. Be sure to stir up the mix well before serving to avoid an uneven pour of shine.
Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe
(Slower Version)
For the slower version of the apple pie moonshine recipe, you repeat every step in the fast version except for the heating element. For this recipe, you’ll add your ingredients to a large pot, stir the mixture, close it with a lid and let the batch sit for 24 hours. As a result, the cinnamon and other spices really have a chance to blend with the apple concentrate and other flavors in the batch. This will give your moonshine a deeper and more complex flavor profile. See the steps below for this slower recipe.
