Elderberries are a native European plant and have been used in medicine for hundreds of years. When it comes to distillation, it can also be used to make tart gins, a strong Sambuca, and even some brandies for the adventurous
Some recipes for use:
Combine 5 ounces of dried elderberry, 1 pound of white raisins, 2 1/2 pounds of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of acid blend in 1 gallon of water. Add 1 teaspoon of yeast and yeast nutrient. Ferment and distill. Consider adding oak chips for a different flavor.
