Description
8 Gallon Still with 2 Inch Dual Purpose Tower
This unit has a lead time of 2-4 weeks from date of order.
This 8 Gallon Still with 2 Inch Dual Purpose Tower is our most popular still. Its boiler size makes it easy to run up to 6.5-7 gallons of wash at a time. The tower versatility allows for both Pot or reflux distilling. The dual-purpose still is perfect for beginners to seasoned distillers.
Stock tower comes with a natural gum rubber bung and a digital thermometer. We offer a Stainless Steel upgrade for 69.99 that adds a 2.5″ dial thermometer as a replacement for the digital thermometer that simply clamps on top of tower. The upgrade has to be ordered with distiller so we can weld the extra tri-clamp fitting on top of tower.
The 8 Gallon milk can will come with 2″ tri-clamp fitting for internal heating element and half-inch NPT for thermometer on milk can. Includes cap and plug so you can cap off ports and use gas burner or hot plate.
Our 110 volt still controller is a perfect match for this still
Includes;
- Gaskets
- Clamps

Just tried it out today and it practically runs itself, great product!

Got my 8 gal rig and 2 inch dual purpose tower a few weeks ago and man what can I say! The quality is by far better than anyone else’s
rig I’ve seen or used. This rig is the perfect 5 gal mash setup—no more double runs/loads—it’s one load and you’re off and running.
Loading the tower is quick and easy to load –easy, easy, easy to set up. I used my very first run as a strip run to double up the next
run. All I can say is the content quality and volume is superb. I did mod the hose setup to run a double pumper, one pump and cooling
bucket dedicated the cooling tower water jacket, and one pump and cooling bucket the cooling jacket on the spigot—finished product is
“superior” to anything I’ve tried from a do-it-your-self-er set-up!

180 proff first try , everything was easy thanks to mile high.

I bought this unit to replace a cheaper 5 gallon unit I bought on eBay. The workmanship on this unit blows the old one out of the
water…not even close. This thing is amazingly well built, fit and finish is spectacular. I can not wait to fire it up. If you have any
doubts about MHD, don’t! These guys are the best.

I posted a review right after I bought it, and I wanted to follow up after the first use. I couldn’t believe my own eyes when I got
a solid gallon of 190 proof the first run. That’s not bravado, or exaggeration…I have a high quality hydrometer and I have been doing
this for a while. I packed the column just like the instructions, with copper and rasching rings…and ran 5.5 gallons of 48 hour turbo
mash through it after a 5 day 20% fermentation. I set the temp, and never touched the heat the entire run. I don’t recommend running an
ice bath/pump set up…I switched over to a garden hose half way through the run because it was going through ice too fast. Overall the
unit is Un-freaking believable!!! Thank you thank you thank you MHD You guys ROCK

With this product if you follow the simple instructions how to used it will runs in self I recommend mile hi products 100% all of them

With some initial research on distilling basics and this distiller, everything worked as shown. My first sugar and 48 hr turbo
ferment yielded a 19.2% wash which stripped a little more than 1 gallon of impressive 92% ABV shine. Stainless steel construction is
a bonus. Quick responses to my maintenance questions via email too, that helps. The wife enjoyed a couple of mixers and was so impressed,
me and my up front out-of-pocket $$’s are forgiven. Can’t wait to start experimenting with grain mash, tweaking and refining still
operations. Gonna make some fine Christmas gift baskets this year.

I researched for months all sites and makers. I have nothing but rave reviews of MHD the product is exceptional,
my neighbor is a machinist and states by his work the still is excellant quality and top notch quality and fit. My first run was a
corn mash fermented 7 days and yeilded 186 proof. The still practically ran itself. You guys are top notch.
Armand Spilotros –
These people make the highest quality products. Made my first batch last weekend (corn mash) and came out better than I ever expected.
Almost as easy as turning on a coffee pot. Looking forward to many years of reliable use.

The quality and craftsmanship exceeded my expectations. It is very heavy duty and works like a dream.
I am a very novice distiller and found this exceedingly easy to run. I think the value for the price paid is excellent.

Bought this 8 gal still about6 weeks ago and after much reading on the net,
tried it out. Its unreal how it works. Got the 1500 watt heater for it and only takes
about 1hr or slightly over to heat up. Its extremely well built and heavy. (35lbs)
The welds are flawless. Never saw tig welding done this well. It’s a work of craftsmanship
you could put in a show case and be proud of. MH I’ll be buying more items from you guys.

Great craftsmanship, works like a charm, and the Hooch tastes good also!!

We have only done one run so far but it has performed well as far as we could tell. Still a learning curve but like it so far.
Had a small drip but think can be fixed with just using plumber tape. Also, the thermometer was not working correct but called and
they are sending another one. Very easy to talk to.

Great workmanship on this unit. Works very well. I only wish there was better documentation on the operation and maintenance.

Everything as advertised. Hard to find quality nowadays, but it is here. Well constructed piece of equipment. Heavy duty.
Easy to use, runs consistant when dialed in. Thermometer did fail on second run, and more literature would be very helpful.
No regrets.

This Still is a heavy duty quality product. The construction and welds all seem to be quality. It produces a great product right
out of the box. The only thing for me is that I installed individual valves to control the coolant flow to the column and the condenser
individually. Also, I hooked coolant lines with the the flow entering the lower ports to prevent bubbles being trapped in conducers.
I would highly recommend this product.

Workmanship could not have been better. As a welder I review the welds as perfect. Everything was there as described.
A little more directions as to the uses and when to use reflux and when to use as a pot still. A great home hobby and fun to experiment
with different flavors.

Awesome product. Used right away after receiving it and got grat product out of it

performs beyond expectations. weld quality is so consistently perfect that I would swear a robot welded this! But I know the welders at facility did.
Only small complaint is I think the clear tubing is a tad short. Also if it could have a roll and a half of copper. One roll is just a tad short I think.
very very happy.

This is a GREAT quality product; in terms of build quality, I couldn’t ask for more and it does exactly what it says it will do.
You will not regret buying this still.
There are things that could be done to make this a really outstanding experience though. Like so many others, I’m a greenhorn at this
and the videos made it pretty easy to assemble the product but I’m left wondering, what is the NPT fitting on the kettle for?
What is the big bottom connection supposed to do? Should I get the stainless dial thermometer or the digital one? What size should I buy?
The product is excellent but the whole experience, while sufficient, could be excellent too if some of the knowledge of the masters
could be shared.
For those in the same place as me – a complete beginner – here is my $0.02; my 8 gall takes 4-6 hours to run so if you get the 13 gall,
allow for a WHOLE day to run it. Definitely buy the dual purpose tower if you are just starting out, it is way more versatile.
Spend the extra on the dial thermometer, it will save you from keep standing up to turn the digital one back on when it times out.
Make sure you disconnect the column from the still kettle before you backflush it (yeah, obvious in hindsight but not before you blow-
out the bung and have to pick up all those rashig rings). If you are in Canada, prepare for the $150 that UPS will ask for on delivery.
$50 is tax and the rest is the UPS handling fee.

Was able to obtain 95% on the first run not knowing what water flow to run.

Great product. Great quality. I also got the upgrade electric heater. So easy it practically runs itself. I achieved 184 proof on my first attempt. I’m glad I paid a little more and bought the best. Would recommend to anyone.

High quality still, I use a 110 volt 2200w stainless steel water heater element without a controller. It hits operating temp in about an hour. Once it starts producing the temp creep is perfect, no need for a controller!!
I can use the still in any room with a electrical outlet, I use a large ceramic floor tile to insulate the still from the floor.
I want to upgrade to the 16 gallon with 3″ torpedo reflux, but I’m hesitant because the 8 gallon works so well with the heating element!!!

Great product. Very well constructed with heavy gauge stainless. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I bought a 2000 watt electric element to go with it and it works very well.
dar8in227 –
Haven’t used it yet but it’s exactly as described. Only reason why I’m giving it 3 stars is the way it was packed and handled. The towers spout was sticking out from the side of the box and the box had many holes in it maybe wrap the tower in bubble wrap to prevent that from happening in the future.

I can’t say enough good things about MHD customer service, high quality, construction, and overall value. Shipping was even quick too! This is my first still and I had a lot of questions. Evan was great at communicating, responding, and making sure I had what I needed. When I first opened the box I noticed right away how heavy it was and all the perfect welds. You can tell they love what they do with the level of detail and craftsmanship that is put in. I will be a MHD customer for life…if you’re considering one of their stills, stop, buy it, and know that the Mile Hi team will take care of you!

You know it’s built when you get the box with holes in the side. Top of box was crushed , it looked as if the delivery driver didn’t slowdown upon delivery. When the box was opened, there in all the spot light was a work of art. Not a scratch on it. Almost to pretty to use. Almost. My second still from them and even had the parts shipped to convert my mighty mini to a thumper. Do not hesitate. Worth every penny
